Written By Ellia Romeiro-Lourenco

The 2026 Met Gala was held this past month, with this year's theme being “Costume Art”. With the Met Gala's theme of “Costume Art," many celebrated the fluidity and movement of the body, paying homage to incredible art pieces that have been created throughout the course of the universe. But some made their trinkets and accessories the star of the ensemble- jewellery as the art.
Pop Music It-girl, Sabrina Carpenter, in a 1920’s inspired garment by Givenchy made out of film rolls from Audrey Hepburn’s 1954 film Sabrina. Carpenter donned a stunning headpiece embellished with different sizes and cuts of diamonds, with the statement jewel featuring her name etched into it. This delicate headpiece is dripping in multi-watt stones and perfectly encapsulates the 1920s flapper-girl silhouette that she was aiming to achieve.

Billionaire media personality Kylie Jenner accompanied her look with a pearl choker necklace by Schiaparelli. Jenner’s jewelry was inspired by the 2025 Louvre heist, with Schiaparelli using that controversial situation with the intention of turning it into a fashion statement. Statement necklaces and chokers were all the rave at this year's Met Gala. with many other high profile celebrities following this trend, and bringing necklaces back to red carpets.

Princess Gauravi Kumari of Jaipur was photographed in a stunning traditional saree with rows upon rows of cascading pearl necklaces, bringing drama and attention to the craftsmanship. Co-Chairs of the Met Gala, Venus Williams and Beyonce did not misunderstand the brief. Williams was dripping in a Swarovski crystal statement necklace modeled after the Wimbledon women’s singles trophy. And the Queen Bee, Beyonce, was covered in hundreds of diamonds including a show-stopping 6.41-carat brilliant-cut central diamond with 140 carats of additional diamonds from The Garden of Kalahari collection Chopard Necklace.
In addition to these fantastic pieces of jewelry at this year's Met, there was an abundance of premier watches debuting. Starting off strong with Luke Evans in a statement piece by Hublot, the actor wore a flashy watch from their Big Bang Unico collection. And it indeed was a Big Bang for it is adorned with a white-gold case decorated with 334 diamonds totaling 17.2 carats. With the most dazzling timepiece, Dwayne Johnson stepped out wearing a $3 million Jacob & Co. Billionaire III set with 714 emerald-cut white diamonds totaling nearly 130 carats. Rising Hollywood star, Connor Storrie, complimented his outfit with watches from Omega’s Constellation collection; Moonshine gold on Moonshine, watch. Fellow Actor Paul Anthony Kelly kept things more sophisticated, with his titanium Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon with a burgundy dial. A colour this decadent is such a rich statement in contrast to a suit that is already polished and affluent. Closing things off with Tennis icon Serena Williams in an extravagant Audemars Piguet Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar. Staying in Vogue with the gleaming silver theme, Williams let the complex watch speak for itself by not wearing a lot of other jewelry that would distract from the intricate self-winding
timepiece.
