Hermès Men's Spring/Summer 2026: Why It Remains Luxury's Quiet Leader
written by ellia romeiro-lourenco

Hermès has always been the face of stealth wealth. But how did the pinnacle of quiet luxury transform their brand overnight? The Hermès Men's Spring/Summer 2026 show exhibited a “summer in the city” theme, that focused on breathable and concise tailoring, with fabric aeration techniques that masterfully displayed the legendary houses knowledge of textiles. With their silhouettes ranging from subtly exaggerated wide-leg trousers, contrasting with shorter, unlined technical outerwear. Hermès took menswear to the next level through their top tier craftsmanship that coincided with their long-term theme of strategic branding and their quiet luxury mantra.

When asked about the inspiration behind this collection, Hermès artistic director Véronique Nichanian cheerfully shrugged and claimed that it's “Just a nice, cool guy in the city!”. And that is the exact energy that was conveyed. Through their use of a sun-washed neutral colour pallet and relaxed proportions and layering, Hermès showcased a collection that brings overwhelming serenity and elegance to the male form. Rejecting seasonal norms of pastels and vibrant colours, Nichanian took an alternative route to ensure that this collection held its spring/summertime aesthetic. Opting for slate, taupe, putty, rich espresso, and vanilla shades, each garment to walk the Palais d'Iéna runway brought a refreshing revival to menswear. Material aeration was at the forefront of this collection. Rather than typical summer fabrics, Hermès concentrated on the construction of full leather garments, with intricate lattice-work and openweave detailing. Allowing for heatwave-ready breathability in materials that are heavier such as sport calfskin. Styling was embraced throughout each garment. An air of calm elegance ensconced every outfit to walk the runway in a cocoon of levity, from rope-soled thong sandals, leather-rendered fringe bandanas, and generously sized bags. Every garment was well accompanied with an accessory that met its match.

Hermès has prided itself on its quite-luxury approach to each of their designs. Rather they have an interesting grasp on the fashion industry by removing the excess need of overbranding, having never accustomed to the idea of needing to plaster their logo on products in order to gain a profit. This collection eradicates the need for raucous, logo-driven accessories by simply showcasing items like bags and bandanas that are quintessential Hermès. However using subtle branding is how Hermès gets their message across in this Spring/Summer collection. With signature “H” topstitching inspired by equestrian saddlery, Clou de Selle buttons and woven leather aspects to each garment, Hermès subtly whispered their branding across each article of clothing to maintain this quiet luxurious status they have upheld for decades. The long-term brand strategy regarding Hermès’ men's line centers around timeless quiet luxury, high quality artisan craftsmanship, and the loud rejection of trend driven fashion. Longing for a slow rhythm, while giving classic elegance, as opposed to rapid, algorithm-fueled clothing consumption, Hermès offers their consumers peak designs that allow for the hard work and attentive detail to speak for itself.
