FAT - PEARLETTA (FSHN DISRPTR)
WRITTEN BY SARAH EROS

PEARLETTA’s 2026 collection, PEARLETTA Station, was the most talked about collection from FAT 2026, and rightfully so. There were so many moving parts in their story. The collection that captured the chaos, confidence, and individuality that make Toronto such an exciting city.
PEARLETTA is a Toronto-based designer known for blending streetwear influences with the drama and craftsmanship of couture. Her approach to fashion focuses on pushing boundaries through unexpected silhouettes, detailed construction, and pieces that are emotionally expressive. PEARLETTA treats fashion as a form of storytelling, using texture, shape, and styling to create characters and moments. For PEARLETTA Station, that story was a love letter to Toronto. The collection explored the city’s constant movement, from morning commutes to the connections created between strangers travelling through the same spaces. It celebrated the idea that Toronto is built from millions of different stories existing together, and PEARLETTA translated that energy into a collection that felt diverse, bold, and completely alive.
The collection immediately stood out because of how cohesive it was while still allowing every look to have its own personality and story. The colour palette of black, white, grey, gold, and electric blue created strong visuals. Every time the bright blue appeared, it became even more impactful against the darker tones surrounding it, but still blended together smoothly. The materials also added to the drama of the collection, incorporating lots of fringe, sequins, leather, fur, and lace to create texture and movement throughout the runway.
The opening perfectly sets the scene and introduces the attitude of the collection. It had a look of the beloved office siren asterisk, but with a rebellious edge. The outfit featured fringe details, black knee-high stockings, and a sheer lace mini skirt that was bold but completely wearable. I like that this look took recognizable trends and transformed them into something that feels more unexpected and personal. It was the kind of outfit that makes you want to see it walking down Toronto streets the next day.
There was a clear understanding of oversized silhouettes. Several looks played with exaggerated proportions, including oversized pants, dramatic coats and coloured fur, but they never swallowed the person wearing them. One standout look paired an oversized black fur coat with the model’s pink buzzcut, creating a contrast that felt effortlessly cool and incredibly fashion-forward. The clothing was large, but the styling still allowed the human body to remain the focus.

That idea continued throughout the collection: the body itself became part of the outfit. Some looks embraced skin, exposure, and confidence in a way that wasn't provocative, but a reminder that sometimes the human body IS the fashion. A revealing oversized look featuring a nipple cover was a perfect example of PEARLETTA’s ability to balance vulnerability and power. The garment was dramatic, but the styling reminded the audience that the person wearing it is what brings the clothing to life.

Another favourite moment was a mini skirt completely covered in tassels. With futuristic and nostalgic influences returning to fashion, the look was refreshing to see because it felt like an edgy way to embrace the returning Napoleon aesthetic while still feeling fresh and modern. The tiny sequin cheetah dress paired with black thigh-high stockings was another standout, proving that simplicity can still create impact. The look was glamorous, playful, and definitely cheeky (literally) in the best way — exactly the type of confidence the collection represented.

The final look brought the collection together perfectly: a long blue gown paired with oversized gloves and dramatic construction. It took the elegance of traditional eveningwear and pushed it into something cool and edgy. It showcased a revealing slit in the back, proving that PEARLETTA understands how to create memorable fashion moments.

Beyond the clothing itself, the runway experience was what truly elevated the collection. The models interacted with one another and the audience, creating a sense of community. Eye contact, gestures, and playful moments with the crowd made the audience feel involved in the story. The energy in the room was undeniable, and it was clear how much Toronto’s fashion community connects with PEARLETTA’s work. These are pieces that could immediately exist on Toronto streets, worn by people who are not afraid to take up space. PEARLETTA created something bold, experimental, and playful while still keeping the human body and confidence at the centre of the designs. It was not just a love letter to Toronto — it was a celebration of the personalities, individuality, and fearless energy that make the city what it is.
